This department looks after everything from enforcing land code regulations to notices of burning and watering restrictions on our lands and the housing department looks after regular maintenance of our houses.

Lands Manager Elizabeth Hermsen and Housing Coordinator Kareen George work closely with our neighbours in Sooke and the Capital Regional District to inform our community about waste disposal and recycling as well as watering and burning restrictions.

Closer to home, the department holds land committee meetings every month and uses the 2006 T’Sou’ke Land Code to guide it. Seasonal maintenance of the 93 houses at T’Sou-ke is coordinated from the housing department.

Environment Resource Worker Larry Underwood looks after environment and forestry within our traditional lands.

His work includes looking after our woodlot operation near Jordan River where an annual cut of 12,500 cubic meters of mainly fir, hemlock and cedar is harvested by our contractors.

On the environmental side, Larry is currently overseeing remediation work at the gravel pit as part of Phase 1 of our long-term economic development program. That includes removal of contaminated construction materials.
